What to Expect

This course is a foundation-level course geared toward System Administrators or anyone responsible for configuring, integrating, and managing Okta.

Students who complete this course will know how to create, import, and configure users and applications in Okta. Students will also know how to configure directory integrations, multi-factor authentication, and self-service for end users after completing this course.  After completing this course, students will also be able to create and manage groups, group rules, password policies, and sign-on policies.

Although this course is not intended, specifically, for exam preparation, everything that you learn in this course can be used to prepare for the Okta Certified Professional exam.

When you enroll in this course, you will learn how to identify the features and functions of Okta and also integrate Okta into an existing organization. You'll learn how to create and configure user accounts within Okta and how to integrate Okta with AD and LDAP. Through many video demonstrations, you'll learn how to create and manage groups, configure applications for secure access, and configure password policies and multi-factor authentication.

Course Details

This course and the include practice labs will teach you how to create, import, and configure users and applications in Okta. You will also learn how to configure directory integrations, multi-factor authentication, and self-service for end users. After completing this course, students will also be able to create and manage groups, group rules, password policies, and sign-on policies.

  • COURSE COMPLETION TIME: 8 HOURS

    Students should expect to complete this course and associate practice labs in approximately 8 hours. Some students will finish sooner, others will need more time to complete the lab.

What You'll Learn

Students who complete this course will know how to create, import, and configure users and applications in Okta. Students will also know how to configure directory integrations, multi-factor authentication, and self-service for end users after completing this course.  After completing this course, students will also be able to create and manage groups, group rules, password policies, and sign-on policies.

  • We'll start off the course with an overview of what Okta is, and what it provides. We'll also cover key terms and components.

  • Next, we'll get into how you can define users in Okta. You'll learn how to manually add people via the dashboard, how to import users via CSV files, and how to assign administrator permissions.

  • As you progress through the course, you'll learn how to configure external directories with Okta. We'll go into detail on integrating Okta with Active Directory, inlcuding the installation of the Okta AD Agent, configuraton of import settings, and the import of AD users. We'll also touch on LDAP.

  • Midway through the course, you'll learn about groups in Okta. You'll learn hwo to crate groups and how to manage them with group rules.

  • After covering groups, we'll get into configuring SSO and provisioning. You'll learn how to register a SAML application and hwo to assign applications and provide access via SSO. You'll also learn how to provision and deprovision users.

  • Later on in this course, you'll learn how to configure custom application integrations using the Application Integration Wizard, and how to enable and configure self service options.

  • Rounding things out, you'll learn how to configure Universal Directory and hwo to leverage the Okta Policy Framework. You'll learn about user profiles, profile mastering, and profile mappings. You'll also learn how to configure password policies, multi-factor authentication, and Okta sign-on policies.
